Die by the Blade is an arcade 1-on-1 fighting game with a high level of difficulty, in which we die from one blow. Triple Hill Interactive, an independent studio, is responsible for the game, simultaneously working on Underflow space strategy.
Mechanics
Die by the Blade is a game in which, unlike other brawlers, we do not see a bar showing the points of life, because here every hit on the vital point is fatal. This is not an innovative approach to the genre, as it has already been used, for example in the cult Bushido Blade, which has inspired the creators. However, this approach to combat makes it much more tactical, because it requires us to feel the enemy's movements in order to skillfully pair and avoid the blade at the right time.
The skirmishes differ in dynamics and level of difficulty, depending on several factors. At the beginning of the battle we choose how many rounds it will consist of, depending on our needs and our ability to get into the fight. We also choose one of the 10 characters available in the game, as well as the weapon it will carry, because in Die by the Blade the heroes do not fight using the default weapon but the one we have chosen. These are typical of Asian countries and include katana, naginata, chokuto, yari or wakizashi. Each weapon is different and has its advantages and disadvantages. Some have a greater range, but with the cost of speed and agility of the characters, others are short and lightweight blades allowing for very fast blows, but require a close approach to the enemy, but also those that are average in all respects.
In the game there is also a possibility to adjust the appearance of a large number of elements to distinguish our heroes from others.
Game modes
Die by the Blade offers a single player campaign, but also skirmishes with other people. Including local 1-on-1 mode and online skirmishes. You will also find Practice Mode, for free training, various types of tournaments and rankings of the best online players.
Technical aspects
The game offers a mix of classical and medieval backgrounds and elements inspired by the Sengoku era, along with a futuristic vision of the Japanese warrior set against the background of neon metropolises.
