Boomer shooter is a genre which gets more and more popular. It consists of shooters which are inspired by the games of old like Doom. You can expect a lot of action and shooting from them. This type of gameplay has a lot of fans. In a few days, the newest addition to this genre will be released – Selaco. However, it will be available only on Steam. Will it be ported to consoles in the future? Let’s find out.

Selaco – Console (Xbox, PS4, PS5) Release Explained

Developers of Selaco are quite open when it comes to communication with fans. There is a FAQ on the main page of Steam forum, which answers many important questions – an inquiry about platforms is also among them. There we can read that:

Q: What systems will Selaco be available on?

A: Selaco will be available on Steam and playable on Windows and Linux. A console release will be subject to GZDoom’s future development. Currently, GZDoom is PC only, so Selaco will be PC only for the foreseeable future.

At this point many of you are probably asking what GZDoom is. It is a modern Doom source port. Developers picked this tool rather than Unity or Unreal Engines to maintain retro soul of the game. It means that there will be no ports unless GZDoom itself is updated. It is possible that it will never happen, as it is a project of passion of 1 person - Christoph Oelckers.

While lack of console versions may be saddening, the game is retro in spirit, so the PC requirements are also not very demanding. If you have a computer, check them, you may be pleasantly surprised, when you discover that you can run Selaco without problems.
