The Crush House PC

The Crush House is a game combining elements of adventure titles and simulations, which allows us to run our own reality shows like X-Diaries or Love Island. The game was developed by the Nerial studio, which gained worldwide recognition thanks to the Reigns series, and was published by Devolver Digital.

Plot

The Crush House takes us back in time to 1999. The main character of the game is Jae, the producer of a new reality show whose action takes place in a luxurious Malibu mansion. Our main goal is for the program to achieve greater success from season to season, because otherwise it will be taken off the air, and Jae's dreams will be shattered.

Mechanics

While playing in The Crush House our main job is to watch over the reality show. We start the whole process with a casting, in which we choose four out of twelve characters differentiated in terms of gender, appearance and character traits. It's up to us whether we choose complementary or completely conflicting personalities. After the reality show starts, we have to observe the adventures of the contestants, their mutual animosities and emerging sympathies and spicy romances, recording and broadcasting everything that may interest viewers.

Our program reaches a variety of different target groups. While meeting the needs of all of them (often contradictory to each other) is not an easy task, we must strive to do so. The measure of our success is the growing viewership and, consequently, the revenues generated by the reality show. To make the latter as high as possible, we have to interrupt the broadcast from time to time by displaying advertisements. The money earned in this way can be spent, on equipping the Malibu residence or on other things.

Dark secrets of our reality program may begin to emerge as progress is made, led by the cast's addiction to Crush Juice drink. By controlling Jae and watching the action from a first-person perspective (FPP), we can explore the residence at night in search of clues. There is also nothing stopping us from engaging in conversations with the cast at the risk of losing our job.

The graphic design of The Crush House is maintained in a cartoonish, caricature style.
