During your journey to the surface, you will have to cross the Rift of Thessaly by catch stowaway rides on Chronos's warships. On the beach at the foot of Olympus, another boss battle awaits you - Eris, Strife Incarnate, who is armed with Adamant Rail, a weapon known from the first game. On this page of the guide, we show how to defeat Eris and how to avoid her attacks.
Eris in a nutshell
- Stick to covers. Most of Eris's attacks can be avoided by hiding behind the two columns in the middle of the arena. Try to always stay close to one of the columns so that you can hide behind it when Eris starts firing at you.
- Don't let Eris destroy the columns. When the boss aims her sniper shot, avoid the projectile by sprinting to a side. Don't let the sniper shot hit any of the columns, as otherwise they will be destroyed, making the rest of the fight much more difficult.
- Watch out for oil spills. Eris can ignite puddles of oil with her attacks and they will burn for the rest of the fight - be careful when you are close to them as the fire damage stacks up quickly.
- Listen for the reload sound. When Eris runs out of ammunition, you will hear a characteristic click - attack her then, because she is defenseless when reloading.
- Continue to run circles around Eris. If you are away from the columns, you will be most safe right next to the boss, as your sprinting speed is faster than her turning capabilities.
Eris attacks
- Assault Rifle - Eris stops in place, firing a long burst from her rifle. Hide behind pillars or sprint to a side while performing Dashes - either be at a distance from the boss or very close.
- Shotgun - Eris stops, firing her shotgun 6 times. Hide behind covers or move away from the boss - the spray from the weapon is so wide that dashing to sides won't protect you.
- Sniper Rifle - Eris stops in place, starts aiming and fires a single, powerful shot. The trajectory of the projectile is indicated by a purple arrow on the ground. Get some distance between you and the boss and sprint to a side to avoid the bullet - you can try to additionally Dash. Don't let Eris hit one of the columns - this attack destroys them, depriving you of cover for the remainder of the fight.
- Grenade Launcher - Eris fires several grenades, and circles on the ground mark the radius of individual explosions. Find a safe area and stay away from the explosions.
- Charge - Eris leans back and charges towards you, firing projectiles left and right. If you're directly hit, you will bounce away, and this may result in you landing in one of the burning oil puddles. Dash away at the right moment and hide behind covers - alternatively, you can place yourself very close to Eris and she should miss with her charge.
- Airstrike - Eris gets airborne and drops several small bombs whose explosion radius is marked with red circles on the ground. Find a safe area and stay away from the explosions.
- Boost - Eris becomes invulnerable to damage and throws a grenade at herself. The explosion significantly increases the damage that Eris will inflict. Run away from the boss to avoid the blast.
- Reinforcements - Eris gets airborne and drops a few aides onto the arena. Get rid of them quickly so they don't get in your way.
How to fight Eris?
Eris is a difficult boss mainly due to the huge damage she deals after performing Boost. She doesn't have many attacks, but the projectiles fired from her weapons are very fast and hard to avoid.
During the fight, make sure to use two columns in the middle of the arena as covers. These columns can shield you from some of the boss's attacks. As long as you stay close to them, you are relatively safe. After attacking Eris, retreat and hide behind one of the columns to avoid her counterattack. The columns protect from attacks with assault rifle, shotgun, and charges, but don't shield you from explosions. Avoid using columns when Eris fires her sniper shot - the attack will destroy the column, which will make the rest of the fight much more difficult.
If you are away from the columns, it is best to stay as close to Eris as possible. Strife Incarnate will make short work of you if you stay at close or medium range, but if you're right next to her, you can sprint circles around her much faster than she is able to follow with her aim. Listen for the sound of reloading - while reloading, Eris is defenseless and particularly vulnerable to your attacks.
There are also pools of oil in the arena that Eris will ignite during the fight. Beware of them, especially when Eris is attempting her charge - if you get struck, you may land in the burning oil. From time to time, Eris will increase her damage greatly - watch out for this, and at the beginning of the fight, try to learn her attacks before they start dealing massive damage.
Although the Eris fight may initially seem incredibly overwhelming, it's quite easy to learn how to fight her due to her limited range of movements. Sticking to cover will make the fight much easier and allow you to defeat the Strife Incarnate. Despite this, stay vigilant - in the final phase of the battle, a single assault rifle burst may deprive you of your entire health bar.
