Cyberpunk 2077: Is there point of no return? Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough

Last update: 02 November 2022

This page of the Cyberpunk 2077 guide answers the question of whether there is a so-called "point of no return" in the game. If you reach this point of the campaign, you will be prevented from freely exploring the world map and completing any remaining side jobs. This matter may be important to you if you plan to reach 100% completion in Cyberpunk 2077. You will also find out if you can continue playing after the game is over.

This page of our guide doesn't contain plot-related spoilers. We will discuss the matter of the point of no return without giving away information about the events that happen during the game's ending and the fate that may befall V and their friends.

Yes, there is a point of no return in the game - Cyberpunk 2077: Is there point of no return? - Campaign - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Yes, there is a point of no return in the game. Reaching this point it will lead to the conclusion of the campaign and you won't get the chance to complete any other activities.

The point of no return occurs when you reach the Embers restaurant during the course of the main job Nocturne OP55N1. Don't be alarmed if this quest has appeared in your journal, as this doesn't mean that you will be immediately prevented from travelling and finishing up other jobs.

The point of no return happens exactly when you approach the elevator leading to the restaurant - Cyberpunk 2077: Is there point of no return? - Campaign - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

The point of no return happens exactly when you approach the elevator leading to the restaurant. The game will give you a warning, showcased in the attached screenshot.

Reaching the point of no return in Cyberpunk 2077 means that a lot of things will be blocked until the game is finished. From the moment you enter the elevator until the credits are displayed you will not be able to:

  1. Travel freely on the world map. V will be forced to stay in the locations associated with the Nocturne OP55N1 job and any subsequent quests related to the campaign's ending. If your character has to reach another area of the world, the game will automatically jump to the next location or V will be transported to the new place.
  2. Complete any remaining side quests, gigs or NCPD scanner hustles. All side quests and activities will be removed from the journal. Only the main quest remains.
  3. Visit vendors or ripperdocs. If you need to, make any necessary purchases or swap out cyberware before you advance to the campaign's ending.
  4. Return to V's apartment or use the stash. Again, it's critical to prepare for the final stages of the game - replenish your supplies and take your best weapons, medicines and gadgets with you.
Regardless of the ending you chose, the credits will play afterwards - Cyberpunk 2077: Is there point of no return? - Campaign - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Regardless of the ending you chose, the credits will play afterwards. You can watch them in their entirety, speed them up or skip them. You will be given the option to continue the game - an example of this message is showcased in the image above, but it may vary slightly depending on the chosen ending.

If you choose to continue playing Cyberpunk 2077, you will be returned to the moment before the point of no return was reached - Cyberpunk 2077: Is there point of no return? - Campaign - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

If you choose to continue playing Cyberpunk 2077, you will be returned to the moment before the point of no return was reached. This simply means that you will reappear in front of the elevator in the Embers restaurant.

Interestingly, you may receive some kind of gift related to the chosen ending. However, this does not apply to all endings. The important thing is that the previous save state will be completely restored. You will be able to resume exploring the world and complete the side jobs and gigs which you had in your journal before reaching the game's ending. Thus, you won't lose the opportunity to visit all the locations and get 100% completion in Cyberpunk 2077.
