Punishing: Gray Raven

Punishing: Gray Raven is a mobile action RPG using the free-to-play model with micropayments. It was developed by Kuro Game studio located in Hong Kong.

Plot

The action takes place in the distant future. Thanks to the massive use of fusion technology humanity reached a golden age of development. Unfortunately, it came to an end with the appearance of a mysterious plague, which began to transform robots and cybernetically enhanced humans and animals into bloodthirsty beasts. As a result, the civilization fell into ruins.

A large group of survivors hid on a large space station. There a new technology was developed that allowed to create genetically enhanced combat bodies, controlled remotely and largely resistant to the virus. Players take on the role of the brave men who control these warriors and embark on a reconquest to reclaim Earth for humanity.

Game mechanics

Punishing: Gray Raven is an action RPG, so during the game we deal mainly with fighting with hordes of enemies using an arcade combat system. An unusual element of the gameplay is that the player does not direct a single hero, but a three-person squad.

During battles we collect colored objects called "pings", which allow us to fire special abilities. Combining three of the same color makes it possible to activate an enhanced version of a given skill.

Dodging also plays a key role during fights. Successfully performing them slows down time for a moment, allowing you to launch additional attacks. However, dodges consume the condition bar, so we cannot use them all the time.

The game offers a rich gallery of characters that we can join our team. Important role in the game is collecting warriors and developing their skills and equipment. Time between missions we spend on learning about the story, which is realized in a form reminiscent of visual novel games, where we mainly read texts and make decisions shaping our relationships with the characters and further development of the story.

Game modes

The game offers a single player mode and a cooperative multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Punishing: Gray Raven features attractive 3D graphics, done in a cartoon style modeled after Japanese animations.
