The main character of Hades was the Prince of the Underworld, Zagreus, son of Hades. In Hades 2, however, the main role is played by the Princess of the Underworld, Melinoe, sister of Zagreus and apprentice of the witch goddess Hecate. On this page of the guide, we explain what happened to Zagreus and if he appears in the game.
The page contains minor story spoilers about the game's beginning and an important plot development from the first installment of the series. Since Hades 2 is still in Early Access, we cannot be completely sure about Zagreus' role in the game. The page will be updated as new content is added to the game.
Is Zagreus in the game?
The plot of Hades 2 revolves around the comeback of Chronos, the Titan of Time, who reconstructed his fragmented body, broke free from the depths of Tartarus, and decided to take back from his children what once belonged to him. As a result of the conflict, Zagreus, his entire family, and most of the inhabitants of the House of Hades disappeared - likely captured by the powerful Titan. Melinoe's main objectives include defeating Chronos and rescuing the missing characters, such as Zagreus, Hades, and Persephone.
As one of Melinoe's main goals is to save Zagreus, it can be safely assumed that the Prince of the Underworld will appear in the full version of the game and will play a significant role, despite losing his status as a playable character.
