This page answers whether the game can be paused and how to deal with certain limitations imposed by the game.

How to pause the game?

To answer the question asked in the title of the page - unfortunately, no. The inherently online nature of V Rising means that the game flows at its normal pace, even after entering the character menu or pressing the ESC key. This feature also applies to single-player gameplay. The private game instance is also treated by the game as a kind of server where the game takes place non-stop, in real time.

Not being able to pause can be frustrating. It is not difficult to imagine a situation in which a player busy looking through his inventory falls victim to a stray opponent who accidentally wandered into the area of the player's character. For this reason, we recommend that you look carefully and make sure that the area is safe before focusing on separate game mechanics screens.

However, if you know that you will have to temporarily leave the computer, the safest option will be to use the "Leave the game" option from the menu available after pressing the ESC key. This option will take you back to the main game screen, from where you will be able to log in again when you return.
