The following section of the Red Dead Redemption 2 guide describes the walkthrough of Favored Sons. Dutch convinces Eagle Flies to ambush an army patrol to divert the attention from the gang to the native tribe.
How to unlock: Complete "Goodbye, Dear Friend".
Walkthrough: Meet up with Eagle Flies. Then go with Dutch and use the cable to connect the explosives. When everything is ready, return to the top of the hill and wait for the enemy patrol. When soldiers walk past the first charge, detonate the dynamite and you'll cut off their escape route.
After the cut-scene, you will have to engage the enemies in a shootout. Kill the opposition, then go down and start searching their bodies. The army will attack again, this time using... artillery! Kill the enemies quickly and try to reach the cannon crew as quickly as possible. To complete an additional mission goal, you'll have to reach the cannon within 45 seconds.
After the cut-scenes, run with Dutch. Get on the horse, reach the ravine and continue your escape on foot. Kill the enemies who are chasing you and after some time you will reach the cliff. During the cut-scene, don't stop retreating and finally jump into the water.
Once you land in the river, swim forward and hold on to Dutch. Your companion will drag you to the shore and you will finish the mission.
How to get the gold medal in Favored Sons?
- Kill the soldier at the cannon in less than 45 seconds - Focus on killing enemies and shooting your way through to the opponent at the cannon as quickly as possible.
- Execute 35 headshots - That's quite a number. You can score a lot of hits when you stay alone with Dutch and gradually retreat towards the cliff. You can hide behind stones and kill the enemies who will pour out of the forest.
- Complete the mission without using items that restore health. A classic RDR2 challenge.
