Does the expansion requires a high-level character?

1. Phantom Liberty is an unusual expansion, unlike, among others, the ones for The Witcher 3, as it does not require a high-level hero. You can start the expansion without too much trouble after spending a few hours with the basic game.
2. The recommended minimum level is 15. You get V at this level when you create a new character for the DLC - we described this in more detail on a separate page How to start the expansion?.

Strong enemies in the DLC

1. Despite the low recommended level in Dogtown, you may quite often encounter noticeably stronger enemies marked with a skull icon. They are not impossible to defeat, but they can deal more damage and be more durable. A low-level character will also need more time to defeat bosses of the expansion.
2. Phantom Liberty provides plenty of opportunities to quickly level up your character. Instead of focusing only on the main storyline, it's worth, e.g. doing contracts and side quests, fight the Barghest gang as well as various other Dogtown bandits. This way, you can quickly get from level 15 to level 20-25.
3. Starting the expansion with a level 50 character can make it less challenging. We do not recommend waiting too long, especially if you also got the best gear. The best moment to do the DLC is when you are about halfway through the basic game - V will have a higher level, but still be far from being overpowered.
